Terms of Use

Last updated 8 August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and HEYTRIS LTD ("Momo", "we", "us") for the Momo mobile app and this website (together, the "Service"). Please read them — they set out what you can expect from us and what we need from you.

Accepting these terms

By downloading, accessing, or using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

If you are using Momo on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

Who can use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If the law where you live sets a higher age for consenting to the processing of personal data, you must meet that age instead.

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it.

What Momo does — and what it does not do

Momo is a focus app built around body doubling: the practice of working on a task while someone else is present. You add tasks you have been avoiding to a list called The Pile, choose one, and run a timed session with an animated companion on screen for the duration. Sessions can be run alone, or alongside a friend you invite, and completed sessions are kept as a history you can look back on.

Momo does not do your tasks for you, supervise your work, check whether you told the truth about finishing something, or match you with strangers. The people in a shared session are people you invited.

Momo is designed with ADHD in mind, but it is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for care from a qualified health professional, and it should not be used to manage a medical condition. If you are struggling, please speak with a professional.

Sessions with friends

When you invite someone to a session, they can see that you are in it, the display name and picture on your profile, and the progress of the shared timer. They cannot see the contents of The Pile or the wording of your tasks unless you choose to share it.

Treat people in your sessions with basic decency. We may remove access for harassment or abuse.

The display name a guest enters when joining is screened for offensive language before anyone else sees it. Every seat in a session carries a Report control: reporting someone removes them from that session immediately, blocks them from ever being seated with you again, and sends the report to us for review. We act on reports within 24 hours, and you can always reach us at the contact address below.

Subscriptions, billing, and renewals

Momo is free to download, and sessions you run on your own are free to use with no time limit. Inviting a friend into a session requires a paid subscription, currently USD 9.99 per month or USD 39.99 per year. Subscriptions bought inside the app are sold and processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), not by Momo directly.

Key points that apply to store-processed subscriptions:

  • Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings — uninstalling the app does not cancel it.
  • Refunds are handled under the store's policy. We cannot issue refunds for store-processed purchases, though we are glad to help you contact them.

Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription. We may change our prices; changes take effect at the start of the next billing period and never mid-term.

Your content

You keep all rights in the tasks, notes, and other content you add to the Service ("your content"). We do not claim ownership of it.

You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display your content solely to operate the Service for you — for example, to sync The Pile to your other devices and show you your own session history. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backups that age out on our normal retention schedule.

How your content is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behaviour in shared sessions. Accounts that post it are removed without notice.

Please do not:

  • Break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or upload content you do not have the right to upload.
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other people in shared sessions.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code behind the Service, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
  • Interfere with, overload, or probe the Service or its infrastructure, or bypass any rate limit or access control.
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
  • Use the Service to build a competing product, or to train a machine learning model.

Our intellectual property

The Service — including its software, design, text, artwork, the Momo character, and the Momo name and logo — belongs to HEYTRIS LTD (heytris.com) or its licensors. All rights are reserved, and the Service is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other intellectual property law.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own non-commercial use, subject to these terms. Nothing else is granted.

Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties — app stores, identity providers such as Google and Apple, hosting, and analytics — and may link to sites we do not control. We are not responsible for third-party content or practices, and your use of those services is governed by their own terms.

Changes to the Service

We are actively developing the Service and may add, change, or remove features. If we discontinue a feature you have paid for, or discontinue the Service entirely, we will give reasonable notice and, where required by law, a pro-rata refund of any prepaid, unused amount.

Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or to protect the Service or its users. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — content licence for backups, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law — do survive.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that using it will produce any particular result for your focus, productivity, or wellbeing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply to you only to the extent permitted, and nothing here limits your non-waivable statutory or consumer rights.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HEYTRIS LTD will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law and disputes

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of them or the Service, are governed by the law of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to the paragraph below.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us at hello@heytris.com — most issues are resolved quickly this way.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that point means you accept the updated terms.
